10 {Fabulous} Songs

Believe it or not, choosing 10 songs to share is quite the challenge for me. Not because I don't like music, but because I adore music. All types of music. Not a day goes by that my stereo isn't turned on {and turned up!}. So to make it a bit easier {for me}, I chose 2 favorites {out of so so so many} from 5 different genres.

Folk:

Ani Difranco - Studying Stones
Or absolutely ANYTHING by Ani. This woman is inspirational and nothing less. I first heard her when I was 15 and I can absolutely confess that she has been a constant wisdom and voice of strength for me.

Damien Rice - Blowers Daughter
I first heard this song on the soundtrack to the movie Closer. {One of my favorite movies now.} If I had to choose two words to describe Damien Rice they would be these: Soul Haunting.

{Artists of honorable mention: Dar Williams, Ron Pope, Matt Nathanson, Bob Marley, Colbie Callait}

Country:

Alan Jackson - Remember When
This song foretells my future. Knowing my husband for as long as I have {going on 21 years!}, and having seen our lives unfold and come together like they have... I know we'll be in our chairs rocking to this song in 50 years.

Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This
A little beautiful reminder to slow life down and remember that even the flustering moments with my babies are going to be missed tomorrow. Enjoy them while they're little, because they don't stay little for long.

{Artists of honorable mention: Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Toby Keith}

Rock:

Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver
One of the best covers {imho} ever. I don't even know what to say about this song. No band could have done it better.

Tool - Vicarious
There is something about this song that makes me want to turn it up, turn down the lights, and just listen. 10,000 days is a particularly good album.

{Artists of honorable mention: Offspring, Paramore, Linkin Park, Disturbed}

Pop:

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
This woman is brilliant. Quirky. Sexy. Brilliant.

Pink - U + Ur Hand
Honestly? This song reminds me of my party days. Drinks and girlfriends and numerous pick up lines. It also reminds me of the strength a woman has without a man. {One of the main tracks on my running iPod}

{Artists of honorable mention: Jack Johnson, Maroon 5, Jason Mraz, Scissor Sisters}

Classic:

Aerosmith - Dream On
Unbelievable band. Unbelievable song. When this song came on Glee Tuesday I nearly peed in my pants. {Yes. I am a Gleek. A BIG one.}

Tom Petty - It's Good to be King
There's still a place where I make the rules. Thanks Tom Petty.
PS You ROCK!

{Artists of honorable mention: Led Zeppelin, Steve Miller Band, David Bowie, Queen, Journey}
